Question Nr. 40

The oldest actual names of persons in Western Civilization known to us today from 4,000 years ago are names of music teachers. We are the oldest profession. We predate the use of numbers. Further, we have a seemingly impossible task—we are expected to teach an invisible subject.

At the same time, one single error by one of our students is immediately recognized by the entire audience, whereas anyone who can hit a baseball only three times out of ten tries will be offered a contract for a million dollars per year to play baseball.

Is it our own fault that we seem so little valued by society?
